Phillip Master Equity Growth Fund clinched the Best Fund Award over 10 Years in the Equity MYR category at The Edge Thomson Reuters Lipper Fund Awards Malaysia 2017 on 27 Feb 2017.
For more than three decades and in over 20 countries worldwide, the Thomson Reuters Lipper Fund Awards have honoured funds that excelled in providing consistently strong risk-adjusted performance relative to their peers. In Malaysia, The Lipper Fund Awards is a well-known annual event organised to honour top performing unit trust funds in the country.
Phillip Master Equity Growth Fund launched in 2003, is an in-house unit trust fund that aims to provide investors with high capital growth over the medium to long term through investments in growth and situational stocks.
The fund has achieved 280.9% cumulative return since its inception. For 10 years cumulative return, the fund has achieved 190.9% which translates to a compounded return of 11.3% annually over 10 years.
Our investment team focuses on discovering value stocks which tend to be in the mid and small cap category. We are not afraid to take big bets on stocks that we have strong conviction. We also invest cautiously on cyclical stocks such as those in the property, construction, building materials and technology sector where we will normally hold for a shorter duration due to their inherent risk of higher beta especially in a bear market.
